Deep view of the Markarian's Chain!

Check out this incredible photo of the chain of galaxies, taken by amateur astronomer Tero Hiekkalinna! The chain, also known as Markarian's Chain, is a cluster of galaxies that makes up a part of the Virgo Cluster.

When viewed from Earth, the galaxies are arranged in a graceful curve. The discovery of two of the galaxies, M84 and M86, was first made by Charles Messier in 1781, while the rest were found by William Herschel. Although the bright galaxies in the chain can be seen with small telescopes, larger telescopes are required to view the fainter ones. At the center of the chain lies a pair of interacting galaxies known as NGC 4438 and NGC 4435, or Markarian's Eyes, located approximately 50 million light-years away.

Hiekkalinna used ZWO ASI2600MC Pro camera paired with Sky-Watcher 80ED pro telescope and Sky-Watcher 0.85x reducer. The setup was guided with Orion ShortTube 80mm + ZWO ASI224MC and controlled with ZWO EAF.
