AM5 + tripod

The traditional equatorial mount requires heavy counterweights for use. It’s normally very difficult to keep balance in RA and DEC directions, also inconvenient for transit and storage, which bring the astronomy amateurs a lot of pain when they are out for imaging.

Mount Body

The internal structure of the body is optimized with the harmonic drive speed reducer and synchronous belt, bringing more accurate control and an amazing reduction ratio of 300:1.

Astronomy-Dedicated Harmonic Drive Speed Reducer

ZWO jointly developed with well-known domestic manufacturers to improve the harmonic drive speed reducer according to the actual needs of astrophotography. It comes with very low periodic errors, smooth gearing and high torque. The AM5 is born for astronomy.

ZWO measures each mount and equip it with the exclusive PE curve before it leaves our factory. The X-axis represents the drive angle. Y-axis represents periodic errors. The periodic error is stably controlled within±20 arc-seconds.

5kg Mount Weight, Large Load Capacity

While the portability is very important, the stability is also essential in use. We don’t blindly pursue the lightweight of the mount body; we are more so along the lines of stability for entire use.

Load Capacity: 13kg – 20kg

Capacity with the counterweight attached is 20 kg, 13kg with out the counterweight.

You can choose just a mount head or mount head with the tripod.

Note:There is an ASIAIR finder shoe attached on the AM5's side panel.If you plan to attach it on anywhere else, such as on the side of the Losmandy & Vixen style dovetail saddle plate, then make sure not to COMPLETELY screw in the rest two hex screws. Keep the length of the inner part between 3~5mm. If you completely screw them in, considering the compact structure of AM5, the cables inside the mount might get pressed and damaged which may lead the mount not to work.
